“Which one is better during times of trials and the spread of sin and corruption: mixing with society and attempting to reform it, or secluding yourself from it and saving yourself?

As for the Sufis, the majority of them chose the second road. But as for the scholars who dedicated themselves to the way of God and strove in His way, they chose the way of the prophets, which is to mix with poeople and strive and patiently endure society's hurtfulness.

Ibn Umar narrates from the Prophet ﷺ: "The believer who mixes with people and endures the harm that comes from them is better than the Muslim who does not mix with people and does not endure their harm." [Bukhari, Ahmad and others]

Yusuf al-Qaradhawi

“A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him to allow him to go to serve in armed jihad. The Prophet said: "Are your parents alive?" He said "Yes". The Prophet said: "Carry out your jihad by taking care of their needs." [narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

“A man asked the Prophet ﷺ: When is the Day of Judgment, O messenger of Allah? He said: "What have you prepared for it?" He said: "I have not prepared much prayer, fasting, or charity for it, but I love Allah and His messenger." The Prophet said: "You will be with the ones you love."

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

“The most beloved good deeds to him [to the Prophet ﷺ] were the ones that the person performed continuously [without giving them up].

Aisha bint Abu Bakr (Wife of Prophet Muhammad)

“O People! The month of Allah (Ramadan) has come with its mercies, blessings and forgiveness. Allah has decreed this month the best of all months. The days of this month are the best among the days, and the nights are the best among the nights, and the hours during Ramadan are the best among the hours. This is a month in which you have been invited by Him (to fast and pray). Allah has honored you in it. In every breath you take is a reward of Allah, your sleep is worship, your good deeds are accepted and your invocations are answered. Therefore, you must invoke your Lord in all earnestness with hearts free from sin and evil, and pray that Allah may help you to keep fast, and to recite the Holy Qur’an. Indeed!

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

“If one of you leads salah (formal prayer), then let him make it easy on them (by making it quick), for there are among them those who are ill, weak, or old. And if one of you prays alone, then let him make it as lengthy as he wishes.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

“If a person embraces Islam sincerely, then God shall forgive all his or her past sins, and after that starts the settlement of accounts: The reward of their good deeds will be ten times to seven hundred times for each deed, and a sinful deed will be recorded only as it is, unless God forgives it.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

“You never spend anything but you will be rewarded for it, even the morsel of food that you life to your wife's mouth.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

“Allah has kept your secret, why did you not keep your secret [i.e. exposing your sins]?

Umar ibn al-Khattab

“I never saw anyone more merciful with children than the Messenger of Allah, may the peace and blessings of God be upon him.

Anas bin Malik

“When God intends good for someone He gives Him knowledge of the deen (religion).

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

“Whoever does not leave sinful words and acts [when fasting], God has no need for him to leave his food and drink.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

“If you ask God for Paradise, ask Him for al-Firadaws, for it is at the central heights of Paradise, and above it lies the Throne of the Most Gracious.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

“Happy are those who find fault with themselves instead of finding fault with others.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

“You will be with those you love.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

“All humans err. And the best of those who err are the truly repentant.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

“Make things easy for people and not difficult. Give people good news and bring them joy, and do not turn them away.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

“God Almighty (swt) says: My love is incumbent for those who love each other for Me; who sit together for Me; who visit each other for Me; and who spend on each other for Me.

Mu'adh ibn Jabal
