“Life is not measured by the number of years, but the number of emotions, for life is nothing other than a human's perception of it.

Sayyid Qutb

“I know through experience that nothing in this life is equal to that radiant spiritual happiness that we find when we can enter comfort or contentment, certainty or hope or happiness into the souls of others.

Sayyid Qutb

“First believe in your idea, with a passionate belief. Only then others will believe in it, otherwise it will stay only a word on the tongue with no soul or life.

Sayyid Qutb

“When we live for the sake of something other than ourselves, when we live for the sake of an idea, life seems long and deep, beginning with the beginning of humanity and continuing long after we have left the face of the earth.

Sayyid Qutb

“There are some matters that Muslims have disagreed about for hundreds of years and they still do. We gain Allah's pleasure by love and unity, He dislikes disunity and division. For this reason I ask you to promise Allah that you will leave these matters alone and strive to learn the principles and basics of the religion and to live by its manners, high morals and agreed-upon prescriptions, and to carry out the obligatory acts and the voluntary ones and to leave obsessing over little details so that our souls may be purified.

Imam Hasan al-Banna

“Islam advises dutifulness and kindness between citizens even if their beliefs and religions differ: "Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them." (60:8). Similarly it advises fairness toward the dhimmis (non-Muslims living in Muslim society) and keeping up good and kind manners toward them: "We share the same rights and the same duties" [Prophet Muhammad ﷺ saying].

Imam Hasan al-Banna

“Do no try to demolish a false set of beliefs except after building a correct set of beliefs [in the populace].

Imam Hasan al-Banna

“Keep people away from false ideas by making them busy with true ideas.

Imam Hasan al-Banna

“Man is the secret of the life of nations and source of their awakenings. The history of all nations is the history of whatever men of genius and strength of will appeared among them. The strength of nations and their weakness is measured by their fecundity at producing men in whom the conditions of true manliness appear. I believe -and history supports me- that a single man is able to build a nation if his manliness is true, and he is able to destroy it if he uses this manly power toward destruction rather than building.

Imam Hasan al-Banna

“False rumors and lies are not put down by replying to them or spreading similar counter-rumors, they are put down by positive and beneficial works that attract attention and cause people to speak, so that new rumors, this time true, will tame the place of the false old rumors.

Imam Hasan al-Banna

“Be like trees; people throw stones at them and they throw the best fruit back at them.

Imam Hasan al-Banna

“These deceiving appearances of prayer beads and clothes, beards and ceremonies, enchantments and phrases and words...is this the Islam that Allah wanted to be His biggest mercy, and His biggest favor upon the worlds? Is this the guidance of Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah upon him, with which he wanted to take people out of the darknesses into the light?

Imam Hasan al-Banna

“Your first arena of struggle is your own selves, if you triumph over them, you will have power over others, and if you fail at struggling against them, you will be weaker against others. Therefore try fighting your own souls first, and remember that the whole world is waiting for a generation of young people characterized by perfect purity, impeccable morals and high manners, so be these youth and do not despair. Keep in mind the words of the gracious messenger, Allah's peace and blessings upon him: "Guarantee for me six things in yourselves and I can guarantee Paradise for you: Speak the truth, keep your promises, protect what's entrusted to you, protect your chastity, lower your gaze (from the opposite sex), and keep your hands away (from other people's rights and properties)". Then look, are you these? And "Allah will see your work, and so will His messenger and the believers, then you will be returned to the world of the Unseen and the witnessing, and then He will inform you of what you used to do."

Imam Hasan al-Banna

“An idea will keep on living...if faith in it is strong.

Imam Hasan al-Banna

“I can say frankly that a Muslim's religion is not perfect until he is a far-sighted politician in the matters concerning his ummah [Muslim nation], caring about it and aggressively doing his best for it.

Imam Hasan al-Banna

“The nation that is good at dying and knows how to die a noble death, to this nation God bestows an exalted life in this world and eternal bliss in the afterlife. The weakness that has disgraced us is nothing other than love of the worldly life and hatred of death; so prepare yourself for a great matter. Insist on death and life will be given to you, and know that death will come no matter what, and that it only happens once, so if you make it for the sake of Allah, that will be the success of this world and the reward of the afterlife.

Imam Hasan al-Banna

“Even though Allah's blessings follow us in every breath that fills the chest with air, and every heartbeat that pumps blood through the veins, we rarely sense these abundant favors, nor appreciate their bestower, Owner of Majesty and Grace.

Muhammad al-Ghazali

“Taking a lesson in nature or chemistry is [equivalent to] a humble prayer, taking a tour of astronomy is [equivalent to] glorifying and praising [God], and a trip through beautiful farms and blossoming gardens or a similar trip through factories filled with fuel-powered movement and production is a goodly connection with God.

Muhammad al-Ghazali

“The Quran, in pointing to God's existence, is a universe that speaks, the same way that this universe is a silent Quran.

Muhammad al-Ghazali

“I call the name of God upon myself, my properties and my religion. O Allah, give me contentment by Your decrees, and put Your blessings in what has been decreed for me, so that I may not wish for the hastening of what You have delayed, and the delaying of what You have hastened.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
