“People of the world don’t look at themselves, and so they blame one another.

Rumi

“Congratulations to those who leave the world before it deserts them; to those who build their graves before they enter them; and to those who please their Lord before they meet Him.

Yahya ibn Mu`adh

“They asked, When is a servant of God contented? She said, ‘When he is as thankful for tribulation as he is for bliss.'

Rabi`a al-Adawiyyah

“Not everyone will be happy at your success nor will everyone be saddened by your loss so be careful whom you share your personal matters with.

Mufti Ismail Menk

“If Allah has written for you happiness, no one can steal that from you, and if He has written for your heart to break, then no-one can mend it but He, so always put your trust in Allah.

Aaidh ibn Abdullah al-Qarni

“The pain you feel today is the strength you will feel tomorrow

Boonaa Muhammad

“You must be willing to change. You must be willing to break the deal you made with the devils within. You must be willing to leave the past and not be tempted to rebound when times are tough. You must be willing to let go of everything and anyone that takes you back to your sins. You must be willing to have hope. You must be willing to have hope that you can change and that you will and that you will be better. You must believe you are worthy of change and you are worthy of improvement and you are worthy of being the best. You must be willing to set aside your negative notions about life, about hardships, about people, about things, about yourself. You must be willing to stop feeling sorry for yourself while looking at the world move around you. Get up and make something of yourself.

Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah

“The sin of Kibr (arrogance) is actually worse than many of the sins that we would be advising [other] people about.

Yasmin Mogahed

“Truly the awliya (friends) of Allah are hidden amongst his servants. Sometimes you meet people with very little knowledge, very humble jobs, and in no leadership role but they put you to shame with their good character and you can’t help but wonder if it’s that special connection that they have with Allah that causes them to tread the earth so lightly. Oh Allah make us amongst them.

Shaykh Omar Suleiman

“[Blindly] following ancient customs and traditions doesn't mean that the dead are alive, but that the living are dead.

Ibn Khaldun

“Death has exposed the reality of this life and not left a chance for the wise person to delight in it.

al-Hasan al-Basri

“I was reading the story of Musa (AS) in surat Taha. There is such a powerful lesson in this story. Musa (AS) was depending on the means (leaning on his staff), so Allah told him to throw it. It became a snake. Then he took it back and it became a staff again. When you depend on the creation instead of Allah, the creation can become a snake that can bite you. But when your dependence is on Allah, that same creation (snake), can become a staff that helps you.
Allahu akbar.

“Once you begin to see everything beautiful as only a reflection of God’s beauty, you will learn to love in the right way: for His sake. Everything and everyone you love will be for, through and because of Him. The foundation of such love is God. So what you hold onto will no longer be just an unstable feeling, a fleeting emotion. And what you chase will no longer be just a temporary high. What you hold, what you chase, what you love, will be God: the *only* thing stable and constant. Thereafter, everything else will be through Him. Everything you give or take or love or don’t love, will be by Him. Not by your nafs. It will be for Him. Not for your nafs.

Yasmin Mogahed

“As we enter this blessed month of mercy, I give you this advice to myself first, and to you all:
Don’t let this Ramadan be just a holiday of rituals. Don’t finish reading the Quran without it transforming you. Don’t feed your body at suhoor, but starve your heart of Qiyam. Don’t reduce this downpour of mercy to just a month of sweets and lavish iftars. Seek Him, you will find. Take a sincere step towards change, transformation, redemption. If you do, you will find Him in front of you. Find Him this month. He’s been there all along. Closer than your jugular vein. Look and you’ll find. Walk and you’ll arrive.

Yasmin Mogahed

“O People! The month of Allah (Ramadan) has come with its mercies, blessings and forgiveness. Allah has decreed this month the best of all months. The days of this month are the best among the days, and the nights are the best among the nights, and the hours during Ramadan are the best among the hours. This is a month in which you have been invited by Him (to fast and pray). Allah has honored you in it. In every breath you take is a reward of Allah, your sleep is worship, your good deeds are accepted and your invocations are answered. Therefore, you must invoke your Lord in all earnestness with hearts free from sin and evil, and pray that Allah may help you to keep fast, and to recite the Holy Qur’an. Indeed!

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
