“I ask Allah for steadfastness on the deen until death (those who say our Lord is Allah and then are steadfast); those who say "Our Lord is Allah" are many, but those who are steadfast are few.

Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali

“The human soul will not leave the dunya except with three regrets: that he didn't satiate himself with enjoyment of what he had gathered (of wealth), that he didn't receive the things he hoped for, and that he didn't prepare well for what he has come upon [i.e. the Hereafter].

al-Hasan al-Basri

“Abdullah ibn Masud used to say: When we missed a brother we would go to him, if he was ill we would visit him to console him, if he was busy we would help him in his work, and if he was otherwise it would just be a visit.

Abdullah ibn Masud

“Whoever smiles at his brother's committing of a sin has betrayed him.

Al-Fudayl ibn Iyad (Al-Fozail ibn Iyaz)

“My sin burdened me heavily. But when I measured it against Your Grace, O Lord, Your forgiveness came out greater.

Imam ash-Shafi`i

“Of the signs of the wretchedness and misery of the servant [of Allah]:
That whenever his knowledge increases, his arrogance and pride increase, and whenever his [good] deeds increase, his boastfulness and self-love increase, and whenever his age increases, his aggressiveness and desperation increase, and whenever his wealth increases, his stinginess and miserliness increase, and whenever his lot and prestige increases, his distance from people and his looking down on them and disregarding them increases.

Waleed Basyouni

“Imam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy upon him) was asked: Which one is better for the servant [of Allah], istighfar [seeking Allah's forgiveness in prayer] or tasbeeh [glorifying Allah in prayer]? He answered: If a dress is clean, then incense and rose water are better, and if it is dirty then soap and water is better. tasbeeh is the incense of the pure ones, and istighfar is the soap of the sinners.

Ibn Taymiyyah

“What the servant [of Allah] dislikes is better for him than what he likes, because what he dislikes motivates him to make du`a, while what he likes distracts him [from worshiping Allah].

Sufyan bin 'Uyainah

“By the amount that you worry about dunya [worldly life], the concern for akhirah [the Hereafter] will leave your heart, and by the amount that you worry about akhirah, the concern for dunya will leave your heart.

Malik ibn Dinar

“I visited Singapore and saw stores with Arabic names, belonging to the Arab merchants who came there for trade and who were first to spread Islam, and wondered what our merchants today spread around the world.

Waleed Basyouni

“Ibn Masud was asked: How did you [early Muslims] greet Ramadan? He said: None of us used to dare to greet the hilal [crescent moon, the sign of the beginning of the month of Ramadan] of Ramadan with an atom of grudge in his heart for his Muslim brother.

Abdullah ibn Masud

“It is reported that al-Ahnaf ibn Qays was once told: “You are an aged elder; fasting would enfeeble you.” But he replied: “By this I am making ready for a long journey, Obedience to God, Glorified is He, is easier to endure than His punishment.”

Al-Ahnaf ibn Qays

“All blessings come in a package. With every blessing comes a test.

Yasmin Mogahed

“The realest things in this life are the things you can't see. If you can see it, its probably an illusion.

Yasmin Mogahed

“The worldly body is a prison for the believer, not because this life is miserable for the believing soul, but because that soul yearns to be somewhere greater. It yearns to be Home. No matter how wonderful this life is for a believer, it is a prison compared to the Perfect life that awaits them. This soul’s attachment is to God and the true paradise with Him. It wants to be there. But this worldly life is what keeps that soul from returning—for a while. It is the barrier, the prison.

Yasmin Mogahed

“The one who does not believe that there is any place better—who believes that this world is the best it can get—will become very impatient when this life isn’t perfect. They are quickly angered and quickly devastated because this life was supposed to be a paradise. They don’t realize there is something greater. And so this is all they want. This is all they strive for. Every effort, every ability, every opportunity, every gift endowed to them by their creator, is employed for the sake of seeking this life—of which nothing will come to them except what is written.

Yasmin Mogahed

“And while it’s nice of you to want to call us ‘modern’ or ‘moderate,’ we’ll do without the redundancy. Islam is by definition moderate, so the more strictly we adhere to its fundamentals—the more moderate we’ll be. And Islam is by nature timeless and universal, so if we’re truly Islamic—we’ll always be modern.

We’re not ‘Progressives’; we’re not ‘Conservatives.’ We’re not ‘neo-Salafi’; we’re not ‘Islamists.’ We’re not ‘Traditionalists’; we’re not ‘Wahabis.’ We’re not ‘Immigrants’ and we’re not ‘Indigenous.’ Thanks, but we’ll do without your prefix.

We’re just Muslim.

Yasmin Mogahed

“The first confounding of Iblis [Satan] on people: He prevented them from knowledge, because knowledge is a light, if their lights go out he [Iblis] would strike them in the darkness however he wishes.

Ibn al-Jawzi

“Pepsi ad: 'Live for now'... Groupon ad: 'You might only live once'... Sprite ad: 'Obey your thirst'...notice a common theme?

Yasmin Mogahed

“The problem with the youth of today is that, as soon as they learn something new, they think that they know everything.

Imam al-Albani
