Quotes About Human Nature
“Sometimes slavery puts on the guise of freedom and appears to be a release from all chains, the chains of culture and tradition and the burdens of the human condition.
There is a fundamental difference between release from the chains of humiliation, oppression and weakness, and from the chains of humanity and its substrates. The first one is true freedom, while the second one is to abandon the foundations that make a human being a human being, foundations that have freed him from the chains of his animal nature.
“When we touch the good side of people, we find that there is much good that the eyes may not see at first sight. I have experienced this, with many people, even those who at first seem like evil and corrupt people or those lacking feeling. There is something of emotion in them toward their crimes and errors, there is a something of true affection in them, something of genuine concern and care. You'll find a reservoir of goodness in their souls, when they give you their love and affection trust in return for the little of your self that you give to them, when you give it in truthfulness and sincerity.
“Truthfulness is a rare thing, and the truly honest person is almost non-existent. Rather, we begin with lies the moment we get up in the morning, even before opening our mouths.
“If you want to understand a human being, look at his action during a moment of free choice, and you will be surprised. You may see a saint committing adultery, a prostitute praying, a doctor drinking poison. You may see your friend stabbing you and your enemy saving you, and you may see a servant mighty in status by his actions, and a master baser than the basest servant by his works.
“We are designed to fall to our knees.
