Abdul Aala (Name)

Abdul Aala (transliteration: ʿAbdul Aʿlā) is an Arabic name for boys that means “servant of the Most High”, meaning “servant of God”, since al-Aʿlā is one of the names of God in Islam.1. The name is made up of the words ʿabd (“servant”, “slave”)2 and the name of God al-Aʿlā. Due to the way the Arabic language works, the “al” from al-Aʿlā is attached to ʿabd when the name is spoken out loud, becoming ʿabdul, and the Aʿlā part is pronounced separately.

The name Abdul Aala may also be spelled as Abd al-Aala, Abdul Ala, Abdul A’laa, Abdulala, Abdulaala and others.

There is one Companion of the Prophet Muhammad by the name of Abdul Aala:

  • Abdul Aala bin Adi al-Bahrani عبد الأعلى بن عدي البهراني
