“He who appoints himself a leader of men in religion ought to begin by teaching himself and reforming his character, his way of life, livelihood, opinion, speech, and the company he keeps, to the end that his own life becomes a more eloquent teacher than his tongue. For just as words of wisdom please the ears, so acts of wisdom please the eyes and hearts ... The difference between religion and opinion is that religion is fortified by faith while opinion is fortified by dispute. He who makes his religion a point of dispute has turned religion into opinion while he who makes his opinion a religion becomes a legislator and whoever lays down the law for himself has no religion.
